We are currently interested in instructors who teach voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, or a combination of instruments. Applicants are not expected to teach every instrument.
Since 2008, Staump Music School has provided engaging, personalized music education for students of all ages and experience levels. Our programs include private lessons, small-group classes, rock-band programs, performances, and recording opportunities. We are looking for teachers who can help students build confidence, develop real musical skills, and enjoy the process of learning.

• Prepare students for performances, showcases, and personal musical goals
• Create a positive, encouraging, and age-appropriate learning environment
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and our administrative team
• Maintain a dependable weekly teaching schedule
• Complete lesson notes and other basic teaching responsibilities
• Participate in occasional school concerts, showcases, or community events
• Potentially teach small-group classes or ensemble programs based on experience and interest
What We Are Looking For
• Strong proficiency in voice or at least one musical instrument
• A genuine interest in working with children and helping students succeed
• Dependability, patience, creativity, and professional communication
• Confidence leading one-on-one lessons
• Ability to adapt lessons to different ages, personalities, and learning styles
• Willingness to learn, receive mentorship, and grow as an educator
• Availability during weekday afternoon and evening teaching hours
• Ability to teach in person at our East County San Diego locations
Previous teaching experience is helpful but not required. A formal music degree or teaching credential is not required. College students, recent graduates, working musicians, and experienced educators are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in candidates with experience teaching children or working in youth programs.

• Opportunities to teach private lessons, groups, and performance programs
• Access to well-equipped teaching spaces and recording opportunities
• Creative and collaborative school culture
• Opportunities for additional students and professional growth
• Weekends generally off, with the exception of select concerts and special events
This is a part-time, in-person position. Most teaching takes place Monday through Friday during the afternoon and evening. Because students attend at the same time each week, teachers must be able to maintain a reliable recurring schedule.
We welcome applicants from a variety of musical and educational backgrounds. If you are passionate about music, enjoy helping young people grow, and are looking for a supportive place to develop as a teacher, we would love to learn more about you.
