Job description:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate News Reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. As a News Reporter, you will be responsible for covering news stories, conducting interviews, and producing engaging content for our audience across various platforms. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely news.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interview and complete 7-8 news phone interviews a day.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling questions to conduct interviews for news stories that adhere to journalistic standards.
  • Conduct interviews with sources to obtain quotes and insights for stories.
  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines using WordPress for posting.
  • Follow the editorial plan and meeting schedule set by the News Director.
  • Attend meetings to gather audio, conduct interviews and draft news stories.
  • Build relationships with community partners to ensure news access and success. 

Skills

  • Strong copy-editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of journalism ethics and standards.
  • Excellent fact and lead finding skills to maintain accuracy and create compelling content.

Experience:

  • Journalism: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:

Ability to Relocate:

  • Cookeville, TN 38506: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Work Location: In person
