Extended Care Staff

Position Title: Extended Care Staff 

Department: Extended Care Program

Location: St. Michael's School, 6345 Wydown Blvd. Clayton, MO

Schedule: Flexible based on your availability: Monday through Friday, 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and scheduled church events

Employment Type: Part-time, Hourly

Pay: $18/hour, ($20/hour on Sunday mornings)

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety of infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children during Extended Care hours.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive environment that aligns with the school’s Episcopal values of respect, kindness, and community.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, needs, or concerns.
• Assist with snack distribution and ensure adherence to food safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized space, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other staff and school personnel to ensure program consistency and quality.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children such as teaching, childcare, or camp counseling.
• Passion for hands-on learning, creativity, and working with small groups of students.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of personalities and learning styles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Patience, energy, and a playful spirit to keep young learners engaged and excited.
• Background check and any required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid) preferred or willingness to obtain prior to start date.
• Degree or coursework in education, child development, or a related field is a plus but not required.
